Terms of Service
1. What HeirloomFile is
HeirloomFile is a personal planning service that helps you record references to your accounts, policies, and wishes in one place so a trusted person can act on them if you become unreachable. HeirloomFile does not store passwords, private keys, recovery phrases, or any credentials, and it is not a password manager, a vault, or a bank.
2. Not legal or financial advice
HeirloomFile is a planning tool, not a legal will, trust, or financial product. It does not replace an attorney, a notary, a licensed financial adviser, or the legal process in your jurisdiction. Nothing on our site, including our guides, is legal advice. For decisions about estates, wills, or significant assets, consult a qualified professional where you live.
3. Accounts
You must be at least 18 years old and capable of entering a binding contract to use the Service. You are responsible for the email address and sign-in method you use and for keeping your account secure. You may sign in with an email and password or, where offered, a third-party account such as Google.
4. Subscriptions and payments
Paid subscriptions are billed annually in advance. Payments are processed by Creem, our merchant of record, which handles payment processing and applicable taxes. Prices are shown in US dollars. When you purchase, Creem collects the payment details; we never see or store your card number.
- Free plan: up to three asset entries, one contact with reminder-only access, and one final message delivered upon confirmed inactivity.
- Pro plan: unlimited asset entries, up to three contacts, richer access controls (passphrase or auto-unlock), final messages with scheduled delivery, export, and full guides, billed at the then-current Pro price per year.
5. Your content and our red line
You own the information you enter. We use it only to operate the Service. We deliberately design HeirloomFile so that passwords, private keys, and credentials are never collected, stored, or transmitted by us. Do not enter such secrets into any field. You are responsible for deciding what references to record and where you keep the underlying access information.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the Service, including attempting to access another account, reverse engineering the Service, or using it unlawfully.
7. Termination
You may delete your data at any time and stop using the Service. We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these terms or where required by law. Upon termination, your account data is deleted in line with our privacy policy.
8. Disclaimer and limitation of liability
The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, HeirloomFile is not liable for indirect or consequential damages, including loss arising from failure to check in, delayed notification, or reliance on our guides. In particular, the delivery of your file depends on factors outside our control, including your contacts, email delivery, and your continued check-ins.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the Service evolves. Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Continued use after changes means you accept the new terms.
